Home Service Worker will provide services in accordance with the policies and procedures of the company as well as the Illinois Department of Public Health Administration Code Part 245 Section 245.40. Home Services is focused on providing assistance that is not medical in nature such as assistance in activities of daily living, housekeeping, personal laundry, and companionship provided to an individual in his or her own personal residence meeting the demands of living independently and maintaining a personal residence, such as companionship, cleaning, shopping, meal preparation, dressing, and bathing. Home Services or in home services does not include services that would be required to be performed by an individual licensed under the Nurse Practice Act.

Position Objective:

Provide exceptional non-medical care enhancing the lives of IHPS clients allowing them to maintain as much independence as possible. Assisting clients with accommodating activities of daily living and meeting the challenges of aging with dignity, care, and compassion.



– Maintain a working knowledge all applicable federal, state, and local laws and regulations

– Perform all duties and responsibilities in compliance with the IDPH Service Definitions and Limitations under the Illinois Administrative Code Section 245.40

– Maintain a strong understanding of all IHPS policies and procedures and uphold these standards in daily operations

– Assist IHPS clients with activities of daily living ensuring both the safety of the client while encouraging them to maintain as much independence as possible

– Establish positive rapport with clients and maintain the highest level of professionalism in all interactions

– Observe for changes in client condition and report all observations and concerns to the Supervisor

– Provide timely, accurate and thorough documentation of observations, changes in condition, and/or occurrences in accordance with IHPS policies and procedures

– Maintain daily time records according to company policies and guidelines

– Participate in all mandatory in-services, meetings and quality assurance reviews as requested by state regulations or company policy

– Perform all other duties as determined by the Director of Services

Qualifications and Experience

– Excels in a fast paced environment

– Manages time effectively to meet the needs of IHPS clients

– Demonstrates strong customer service and problem solving skills

– At least (1) year of experience in home services or health care

– Be a team player working effectively with others

– Exudes a passion and desire to care for the elderly

Position Requirements

– Must complete at least 8hrs of training annually as required by the IDPH Administrative Code OR maintain certification under the Health Care Worker Registry as a Certified Nurse Assistant

– Must pass a criminal background check in accordance with the Health Care Worker Background Check Act (225 ILCS 46) and Health Care Worker Background Check Code (77 Illinois Administration Code 955)

– Must submit to and have negative results in a drug and alcohol screening

– Provide proof of a recent TB test with negative results

– Provide a copy of a health exam by a licensed physician no less than 12 months prior to the date of hire

– Copy of certification/ licensure if applicable

– Must be eligible for employment in the United States

Physical Demands

Physical demands include stooping, bending, turning, stretching, lifting to assist clients, moving equipment, etc. visual and auditory acuity necessary to detect changes in client condition. Manual dexterity required to handle equipment and assistive devices.
